Dundas Castle History
Dundas Castle is truly a castle of which dreams are made. Dundas is one of Scotland’s most beautiful castles.
The castle is located only eight miles from the city center of Edinburgh, six miles from the airport, and within an hour’s drive from Glasgow, Stirling, and Perth.
The Auld Keep at Dundas dates back to the 14th century and the ‘modem’ Castle, built in 1818, is the work of the great Scottish architect William Burn. The main part of the Castle has recently been restored and beautifully redecorated. It is now truly a fairytale castle of great comfort.
Dundas Castle is set in a park of outstanding beauty with views across the River Forth to the North and the Pentland Hills to the South. The grounds include spreading lawns and long driveways lined with rhododendrons, which are a panoply of colors in the Summer.
