The
Salzburg Residenz (Alte Residenz) was built in the 16th
century by Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau. Its architecture style is Italian
baroque style.
This
magnificent historical structure, located right at the heart of the city and used for
entertainment purposes by the Royal family for centuries, is now owned by the Salzburg
province.
It has
more than 180 rooms and three spacious courtyards. The government uses the state rooms, located
on the second floor, to host important state functions, official meetings, receptions, and
international conventions. Also located on the second floor is the Residenz Gallery, an art
collection.
Salzburg Residenz is a major tourist spot owing to its
cultural and historical significance.The palace is located under
Residenzplatz 1 in Salzburg.
