The Sa’dabad Palace, also spelled Saadabad Palace, was built in the northern part of Tehran, in the Shemiran area during the Pahlavi era.

Saadabad Palace History

The royals of the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century used this palace as their summer capital. Saadabad Palace occupies a vast area of 275 acres (over 110 hectares).

Saadabad Palace was converted into many museums after the Iranian Revolution, including the Military Museum, the Museum of Calligraphy, and the green museum.

It displays many historical artifacts and documents that represent Iran’s rich cultural history.

The palace is also used to host foreign visitors of the Iranian president. A part of the palace is used by the Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization.

Visitor Information

Saadabad Palace and its gardens can be visited daily between 9 and 17:00. It is closed every Monday and for religious holidays.

The Military Museum is open daily except Thursdays.

The entrance fee varies, as it has to be paid for each museum in part, but overall it is cheap, varying between 1 USD and 4 USD.

Persepolis (greek), commonly known as Takht-e Jamshid by the Iranians, is a complex of palaces used by the Achaemenid kings as their summer capital until Alexander the Great destroyed it. Built on the slope of a mountain now known as Rahmat, the construction of this site was completed over a span of 150 years.

The palace consists of a number of stairways, columns, expansive terraces, rock paintings, and statues.

The Apadana Palace is the most impressive, and its interiors are beautifully adorned with colored tiles representing animals and trees. Apadana was built by Darius the Great between 515 BC and 485 BC.

Other buildings situated in Takht-e Jamshid are the Hadish Palace, Tachar Palace, and the royal treasury.

The Persepolis is situated about 44 miles northeast of the city of Shiraz.

Golestan Palace (Palace of Flowers) is situated in Tehran, and it is one of the most popular landmarks of the Iranian capital.

Golestan Palace History

Golestan Palace is one of the buildings within the walls of Tehran’s Historic Arg (citadel). This is the oldest historical monument in Iran and was rebuilt to its current form by Haji Abol-hasan Mimar Navai in 1865.

This palace was the royal residence of the Qajar dynasty. Several royal ceremonies were held in this palace during the Pahlavi dynasty (1925 – 1979).

The Golestan palace underwent a serious restoration that continues to this date. However the restoration project doesn’t affect visitors, and the palace can be visited by tourists.

Golestan Palace Visitor Information

Golestan Palace can be easily reached in Tehran using the underground. The Panzdaeh Khordad station is right next to the citadel where the Golestan Palace is located.

Golestan hosts 10 museums, of which 9 are open to the public. You will have to buy tickets to enter each separate museum.

Tickets for museums vary between 3000 and 4000 rials ($3 – $4). Most of the museums are open every day except Thursdays and Sundays between 8:30 and 15:30.

Fin Garden History

Fin Garden was built in the classic old-Iranian style, while the palace situated in the garden reflects the influence of the architecture of the Safavid, Zandiyeh, and Qajar periods.

It is 2.3 hectares big and employs many water fountains.

Besides the palace, the garden has a number of suffers (buildings), two baths, a pool, a fountain known as Sultani, flowing streams, water spouts, and a garden full of cypress trees.

Many buildings contain frescoes, paintings, and plastic inscriptions dating back to 1811.

Thousands of tourists stop by to enjoy the beauty of this well-kept historical place. The garden is deemed to be of great cultural and historical significance.

Baqcheh-Jooq Palace History

Baqcheh-Jooq Palace (English: Joogh Garden) was commissioned by Iqbal-ol-Saltaneh Makui, one of Mozafaredin Shah’s commanders.

This palace is a major tourist attraction due to its location on the Turkey-Europe road route.

The Baqcheh-Jooq palace is situated on a large expanse of gardens, which cover an area of 11 hectares (27 acres).

Currently, the palace is a museum, also known as Kakh Muzeh Maku.

The palace consists of two floors that are made up of numerous halls and chambers, most of them beautifully decorated with paintings, mirror-work, and plaster moldings.

Adding to its beauty is the façade, which contains banisters and statues made of plaster.

Baqcheh-Jooq Palace, also spelled Baghche Jug, is situated between the towns of Maku and Bazargan (about 10 km from Maku) in the province of West Azerbaijan.
