<p>The Scaur Hill Fort was built in the 19th century on the highest hill and it is surrounded by a defensive rampart.</p>



<p>It includes a dry moat and underground passages that connect Ely’s Harbor to Great Sound.</p>



<p>The Scaur Hill Fort is spread over nine hectares (22 acres) of parkland. It encompasses a rocky shoreline for fishing, picnic areas, a public dock, and exciting trails.</p>



<p>The world’s smallest drawbridge, the 17th-century Somerset Bridge, lies in close vicinity to the fort.</p>

<p>Built-in 1614, the fort has undergone a few major renovations, most recently between 1865 and 1878. It was built on the shores where the British vessel Sea Venture was wrecked in 1609.</p>



<p>This wooden fort was built in 1614 to defend Bermuda from the Spaniards.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Visitor Information</h3>



<p>The fort&#8217;s museum contains a gallery of dioramas, which showcase Bermuda&#8217;s history, replicas of the British crown jewels, small arms exhibits, and a cooking area.</p>

<p>Other precious items in the house include a carved Italian Renaissance chest made of walnut in 1650, an inlaid Sheraton console table, a small cedar chest, an Adam-style fireplace with a large gilt Regency mirror over the mantelpiece, cedar bookshelves, mahogany bookcases, a Regency rosewood pedestal table, a silver epergne, and watercolor paintings by famous artists.</p>
