Like most countries in South Asia, Bangladesh doesn’t have many castles and
palaces alive. In fact, castles were never dominant in the area. But there are some interesting
and elaborate palaces worth visiting.
The Fort Aurangabad or Lalbagh Fort as it is more well known is one of the oldest
surviving palaces in Bangladesh, dating back to the 17th century.
The more recent Ahsan Manzil, which dates back to the 19th century, is one of
the most beautiful palaces of South Asia.
The even younger Tajhat Palace is less impressive than
the Ahsan Manzil, but it is still a well preserved 20th century palace.
