Île-de-France is the most populous region of France, and also the region
where the capital city of Paris and its surroundings are located.
Thus, in Île-de-France you will find many castles and palaces. Without a
doubt the most remarkable of the palaces found here is the Chateau de Versailles, the palace complex started by
Louis XIV.
You can also find here the charming Chateau de Fontainebleau which dates back to the
16th century, or the Chateau de Rambouillet.
