The county of Devon shares borders with only three other counties in
England: Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. Although Devon also borders the sea, it did not see
so much military actions, thus there are less renowned castles here than in other counties
like Kent that lie closer to the continent.
In Devon one can find magnificent old castles like the Powderham castle but
can also find here England’s youngest castle, the Castle Drogo which was built in the early
20th century out of granite.
